What is the Clark Fork Watershed?
The Clark Fork River and its tributaries drain most of western Montana. The upper river and headwaters were heavily impacted by wastes from over a century of mining. Today, the area is the largest Superfund environmental clean-up site in the nation.

Geospatial Learning for Teachers

July 17-18 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Park High School Livingston, MT

Montana EdPARC, MontanaView and GeoEssentials, Inc will sponsor a teacher’s workshop focusing on using GPS, ArcExplorer Java Edition for Education or ArcGIS 9.2 and MutliSpec as classroom instructional tools to enhance spatial learning.  Individuals will utilize locally collected geospatial data (GPS) and numerous web based data sets to develop classroom spatial learning activities for their use.  A major focus of the workshop will be the development of spatial learning skill that can be used to enhance subjects currently being taught.  Teachers will select their own topic and develop spatial learning activities accordingly.

All software used in the workshop is free and requires minimal computer capacity.  Land Sat imagery, provided by MontanaView, NAIP imagery from Natural Resource Information System, Montana State Library, and AeroCam imagery from Upper Midwest Aerospace Consortium will be used to enhance spatial learning activities.

Registration Fee $50.00 Registration form is at www.geoessentials.com  Teachers with less than 5 years teaching experience is free.
Registration Deadline July 1, 2007.
